InuYasha followed the adventures of high school student Kagome Higurashi and the half-demon Inuyasha as they searched for shards of the Shikon Jewel.
With the last installation, i.e., InuYasha: The Final Act, the series secured its place as one of the most beloved cult classics in the shounen genre.
With around 200 episodes, InuYasha is a host to a large number of amazing characters, each with their own unique personalities and power.
With an incredible cast filled with heroes, anti-heroes, and terrifying villains, debating the strongest character is all the more difficult. But I have done the task!
10Miroku
Miroku was a monk who traveled with Inuyasha and others. Due to Naraku cursing his grandfather, the Kazaana, or “the wind tunnel,” was passed down to him too.
To not be consumed by the tunnel himself, Miroku frequently used the power, risking his life in the process.
Despite knowing that he would be poisoned for sucking in Naraku’s miasma, he continued to do so by fighting against him.
He was one of the strongest humans in the series. Miroku could have potentially sucked Sesshomaru into the tunnel early on (episode 18) series had it not been for the latter’s quick thinking. Due to this, he is ranked 10th on this list.
9Koga
Next on our list is the stubborn young leader of the eastern yokai-wolf tribe.
When he first met Inuyasha as an opponent in battle, Koga went toe to toe with him and almost ended up the unofficial winner due to the Shikon shards in his possession.
These shards allowed him to travel at the speed of the wind, which he used to his advantage during fights.
Despite reluctantly becoming Inuyasha’s ally, Koga served his purpose as a strong rival to the former both in power as well as romance, mainly due to his persistent courtship of Kagome.
His tornado-causing speed, when coupled with his animalistic battle style, makes Koga a very powerful character.
8Magatsuhi
Magatsuhi was the evil inside the Shikon no Tama, born from the Demon of the Shikon no Tama’s spirit.
He manifested his physical form with Naraku’s help to help the latter complete the Shikon Jewel.
Magatsuhi was so powerful that he exceeded Naraku’s before he had the Shikon Jewel.
The darkness of his demonic powers was so vast that a simple stare knocked out Kagome and simultaneously sealed away her spiritual powers.
Furthermore, his miasma was one of the strongest in the entire series, as it was enough to injure Sesshomaru, who had immunity to poison.
All in all, Magatsuhi was a terrifying evil who was only stopped when the latter wielded his powerful Tenseiga.
7Kikyo
Kikyo was the most powerful, high-ranking priestess of her generation and was feared by many.
After being deceived and killed by Naraku, she was later resurrected by Urasue to become one of Naraku’s strongest nemesis.
Kikyo fought and nearly defeated Naraku, an animated corpse that possessed only a fraction of her soul.
Since Kagome is her reincarnation, Kikyo’s powers are equal or greater than hers.
What made Kikyo so fearsome was that Naraku desperately tried to kill her multiple times, even before he went after Kagome or Inuyasha.
6Kagome
As the modern-day reincarnation of Kikyo, Kagome had a tremendous amount of latent power.
She was the main female protagonist of the series, who was unknowingly born with the legendary Shikon no Tama inside her body.
While she was strong in her own right and could frequently be seen in battles teaming up with Inuyasha, she was not powerful enough to face other characters on this list.
However, towards the end of the series, we found out that Kagome’s powers had been sealed, and after gaining control over them, she nearly wiped out Naraku by herself.
Her shooting and healing abilities and raw spiritual power make her one of the strongest priestesses in the series.
5Midoriko
Next on our list is Midoriko, the creator of the Shikon no Tama and the most powerful priestess shown in the entire series.
She possessed extremely high spiritual power, strength, and energy and represented purity in the Shikon no Tama.
Due to this, even someone as powerful as Kikyo had to obtain her spirit to destroy Naraku.
Midoriko’s most fearsome and powerful ability was to exorcise Shikon.
She contained the four spirits at their maximum and balanced, allowing her to drive the soul out of anything and purify it.
This ability allowed her to defeat the Demon of the Shikon no Tama and create the jewel.
4Toga
Toga was a powerful dog demon who served as the Ruler of the Western Lands and was feared throughout feudal Japan as being the strongest of his kind.
He fathered two sons, Sesshomaru and Inuyasha, the main protagonist of our series.
He was initially stronger than his sons and was stated to be one of the most powerful yokai. Toga had defeated extremely powerful Daiyokai, such as Shishinki, the Panther King, and Hyoga.
Toga was also a master swordsman with command over the three swords of Supreme conquest: So’unga, Tessaiga, and Tenseiga. While he lost against Ryukotsusei, his legend and legacy are still carried out by his sons.
3Naraku
Naraku is the main driving force behind Inuyasha anime and has been the constant motivation factor for the series’ characters.
As his name suggests, he had power over the underworld.
While he was extremely strong, what made him truly great was his ability always to remain one step ahead of the rest.
Unlike other villains who use brute strength to destroy their enemies, Naraku reveled in playing with their emotions and weaknesses as a human.
He was directly responsible for Kikyo’s death, the seal on Inuyasha, and nearly all the other characters’ misery.
After he gained all Shikon Jewel shards and made the Shikon no Tama whole again, it took the combination of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha to defeat him finally, and even then, Kagome dealt the final blow.
While Naraku served as a pawn and was manipulated by the Demon of Shikon no Tama, his power made him one of the strongest and best villains in the series.
2Inuyasha
Next on our list is Inuyasha, the protagonist of his series. We have seen his growth throughout his journey, and though his actions were impulsive and sometimes beyond reason, his strength has grown tremendously.
As the son of a powerful Dog Demon, Inuyasha naturally possessed enormous demonic power.
His senses, such as hearing, sight, and smell, were all enhanced, and he had the ability to heal incredibly fast.
However, being born a hanyo, his powers fell short compared to his half-brother, Sesshomaru.
Despite struggling through most of the series due to this, Inuyasha never stopped training.
As a result, his power allowed him to wield and unleash Bakuryuha, Kongosoha, and Meido Zangetsuha with his father’s Tessaiga.
He even surpassed the latter by defeating the powerful daiyokai, Ryukotsusei, who not even toga could defeat.
By the end, he beats everyone in the story and is still getting stronger. And with all those feats combined, Inuyasha’s strength is second to but one person.
1Sesshomaru
Sesshomaru, son of Inuyaisho and half-brother of Inuyasha, is the strongest character and demon in the Inuyasha series. Naraku himself feared him and was one of the few demons who didn’t covet the power of Shikon Jewel.
While Inuyasha was strong in his own right, Sesshomaru was a pure-blooded demon and, therefore, leaps and bounds more powerful than the former.
The only thing that kept Sesshomaru from reaching his true potential was his obsession with his father’s power and the Tetsusaiga.
Once he let go of his obsession, he could regrow his arm and manifest a sword with his own power, the Bakusaiga.
This sword was extremely powerful and was much more destructive than Tetsuaiga. That’s why Sesshomaru is easily the most powerful demon and character throughout the series and deserves his position at #1.
