Because of what happened to Rikiishi, Joe is scared to punch someone in the face.

In an effort to help Joe get back on his feet and continue his career in boxing at the regional and international levels, Carlos Rivera, a world-ranked boxer from Venezuela, is recruited by Youko, Joe’s romantic interest and the gym owner, where Rikiishi trained.
