My Neighbor Totoro

To be near their mother, who is in the hospital due to a chronic illness, Tatsuo Kusakabe and his two daughters, Satsuki and Mei, move to the countryside in 1950s Japan. As the girls become more accustomed to country living, Mei one day comes across a tiny, bunny-like animal in the yard. She pursues it into the forest and soon makes friends with “Totoro,” a huge, ethereal forest spirit. Soon after, Satsuki also meets Totoro, and the two girls’ lives are suddenly full of fantastical woodland creatures and enchanted outdoor adventures.
