Unavoidably, sacrifices must be made in order for improvements to occur, as Tokyo’s status as one of Japan’s major cities grows. One of these costs is that, over time, there will be less space for wildlife and nature to thrive. Numerous animal communities bear the impact of urbanization as this decrease persists. One such group is the “Tanuki,” a kind of mystical shape-shifting mammal, and they are engaged in a battle to protect their cherished forest from the impending menace of an expanding Tokyo.
